"After World War II Rwanda became a UN trust territory with Belgium as the administrative authority." (Rwanda: History) "United Nations Trust Territories were the successors of the League of Nations mandates and came into being when the League of Nations [ended] in 1946. All of the trust territories were administered throug hthe UN Trusteeship Council . . . The main objection [of the trust territories] was that the trust territory guidelines required that the lands be prepared for independence and majority rule." Rwanda was a joint territory named Ruanda-Urundi. They were linked with Burundi. (United Nations Trust Territories)
